Komen Columbus Race for the Cure
The 16th Komen Columbus Race for the Cure will be held Saturday, May 17th, in downtown Columbus. They hope to surpass the 2007 record-breaking results of 37,471 people and raising nearly $2 million.

This year we will again have members work the survivor table distributing pink hats to survivors and pink celebration and memorial signs. We also need additional volunteers to assist with the Survivor Palooza, a plaza that honors survivors. More information will follow. Anyone who wishes to volunteer can contact Karen Werner or Megan Needham at karen_werner@scbglobal.net or mneedham@jginc.biz. Information on Komen Columbus can be found at www.komencolumbus.org.

Yoplait Pink Lids for Breast Cancer Research
Thanks to all who participated in the 2007 collection for Yoplait lids. Our members enlisted assistance from friends, family and co-workers to achieve our goal to support breast cancer research. Yoplait donates 10 cents to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, and 5 cents to the ZTA Foundation for every pink lid collected through ZTA. According to the official count from International Office, our chapter collected 1,931 lids, well beyond our total of 1,276 lids in 2006. This made us 5th overall among alumnae chapters, and number 1 in Ohio! Total donations from ZTA’s collection are $21,252.20 to Komen and $10,626.10 to the ZTA Foundation. GREAT JOB!!!!

Letter From Santa
This year 130 children were greeted with a letter from Santa. One actually wrote a letter back to Santa in response to her letter! Another carefully gathered all of the magic snow which fell when the letter was opened and put it back into the envelope.

Our proceeds came to $550. We sent $43 to the Better Together Fund for Teachers to thank the Bright Horizons Daycare Centers for their support in this program. The balance was divided equally between the ZTA Foundation and Angels 911, an organization that assists local homeless and abused women and children.
